🥊 Boxer puppies

The Boxer is a large, high-energy companion known for its playful, affectionate 'clown' personality and deep devotion to family. It's patient with children and endlessly fun, but it needs vigorous daily exercise and, as a flat-faced breed, careful heat management.

History & background

Developed in 19th-century Germany from the Bullenbeisser and English Bulldog, the Boxer worked as a hunting, guard, and cattle dog. It gained popularity worldwide after both World Wars and was recognized by the AKC in 1904.

Is a Boxer right for you?

Best for active families and owners who can meet its high exercise needs; not ideal for sedentary or apartment living. Boxers are brachycephalic and heat-sensitive — in Florida, exercise only in cool hours and never leave them in heat or humidity without shade and water.

Care & health

The short coat needs minimal grooming and weekly brushing. Provide plenty of daily exercise and play; watch for heart conditions, cancer, hip dysplasia, and breathing difficulties in hot weather.

Boxer FAQ

Are Boxers good with kids?

Yes. Boxers are famously patient, playful, and protective with children, though their energy means supervision with toddlers is wise.

Do Boxers handle Florida heat well?

Not well. As a flat-faced (brachycephalic) breed, Boxers overheat easily — exercise in cool mornings and keep them cool, shaded, and hydrated.

How much exercise does a Boxer need?

Boxers need at least an hour of active exercise daily, plus play and training, to burn off their considerable energy.
