Come Home

Lifetime lost-pet recovery, included with every pet a Petlovin' store sells.

Every puppy and kitten that goes home through the Petlovin' register gets a QR tag page that reaches the family in one tap, its microchip number on file, lost alerts with a printable poster, and a yearly reminder to keep the phone number current. For life, at no charge to the store or the buyer.

Found a pet?

Look up a tag code or a microchip number

Scanning the tag opens the pet’s page directly. If you have the code printed on the tag, or a microchip number from a vet or shelter scanner, type it here.

Nothing is shown about the family here; a match takes you to the pet’s tag page, where you can reach them.

How it works

  1. 1

    The sale closes

When a puppy or kitten goes home through the Petlovin' register, a recovery profile is created for it: name, photo, breed, colour, microchip number, and the family's phone and email. The family gets an email with their private page.

  2. 2

The tag goes on the collar

The store keeps a bowl of coded tags by the register, printed from a label sheet or engraved from a CSV. On the sale-complete screen the clerk scans one onto the pet and clips it to the collar. Any phone camera opens it, no app. The family can print more or link another tag from their page.

  3. 3

    A finder scans it

The page shows the pet, a Call button and a Text button for the family, and a message form with a one-tap location. The family is emailed on every scan, at most once an hour, and on every message.

  4. 4

    If the pet is lost

The family marks it lost on their page. The tag page turns red with where the pet was last seen, the store is alerted, and a letter-size poster with tear-off strips is ready to print.

  5. 5

Shelters and vets can find it too

Anyone with the microchip number can look it up on this page and reach the pet's tag page. The chip's prefix names its maker, so the store and the family get a one-click link to the maker's registry, the details ready to paste, and a place to note it was done.

  6. 6

    Every year, a nudge

Twelve months on, the family gets one email asking them to check the phone number. A stale number is the main reason a found pet does not get home.

What each person gets

  • For the family

A tag page, Call and Text buttons, a second contact and the vet, a private page to keep details and the photo current, lost mode with a poster and a one-tap share kit, an activity log of scans and messages. No account, no app, no renewal fee.

  • For the store

Enrolment happens on the sale and shows on the sale-complete screen with the tag to scan on. A Come Home screen holds the tag bin, every enrolled pet, who is lost, recent scans and finder messages. Staff can enrol a pet sold outside the register in one form.

  • For whoever finds the pet

One page that says: this is who I am, here is who to call. Their own phone does the calling and texting; nothing is sent from Petlovin' to anyone's phone.

  • For shelters and vets

Type the microchip number into the lookup on this page. A match opens the pet's tag page, with the family's contact buttons.

Questions, answered

What does Come Home cost?

+

Nothing, to the store or to the buyer, for the life of the pet. It is part of the Petlovin' register, which is free.

Do I need a special tag?

+

No. Any QR code that opens the pet's tag address works: the free printed tag sheet, a sticker, or an engraved metal tag from any engraver or online tag shop. The address is short and printed on the family's page.

Does it send text messages?

+

No. A finder calls or texts the family from their own phone using the buttons on the tag page, or leaves a message that is forwarded by email. Petlovin' never texts anyone.

What if the family changes their number?

+

They open their private page and change it. The link is in the enrolment email and in every scan or message email. Once a year Petlovin' reminds them to check it.

Is the microchip registered with a national registry?

+

Come Home holds the chip number and answers chip lookups on petlovin.co. A store can also register the chip with the chip maker's registry and record that on the profile, so both routes lead back to the family.

Can a pet sold before we used Petlovin' be enrolled?

+

Yes. Open the animal's record, enter the family's phone or email, and enrol it. The family gets the same email and the same page.
